Jump Higher in Volleyball – Tips to Jump 15 Inches higher

The secret to being a great volleyball player is to have a great vertical jump.
A good vertical jump is essential for indoor volleyball but even more so in beach volleyball where you are playing on soft, shifting sand.
It goes without saying that your other volleyball skills are important. For without those important basic volleyball skills, including speed, agility and timing, a fantastic vertical leap isn’t going to make you a great volleyball player.

A good vertical jump can often make or break a game. With a good vertical leap you can be effective in defense by shutting out your opponents with good blocks. It is also vital in your offense game. Jumping high and hitting above your opponent’s blocks gives your team the edge. You will win more points and ultimately more games.

For most players, by increasing their vertical leap by about 15 inches can make all the difference between an average player to an awesome player.
Here is what I suggest you need to focus on in order to get a higher jump in the shortest amount of time.

Tip 1: Start with good stretching to avoid injury and warm your muscles for the heavy workout they are about to endure.

Tip 2: You need to build strong leg muscles (e.g. claves) to propel you high into the air. For this I would suggest doing squats using weights to increase the load on the muscles.

Tip 3: Do lots and lots of jumps. Work those muscles and train them to be explosive.

Tip 4: Diet is very important when you undergoing strength training. Be sure to eat lots of protein, as your muscles will need them with the workout you are giving them.

Tip 5: Mental focus and shear determination is critical to achieve your goal of jumping higher. Without a strong conviction and determination, especially when you are tired and sore, the inclination to stop will overwhelm you. I find listening to motivation music good to keep more focus and interest up.
